Welcome to the journey
We all have a story...
Discover the power of identifying and connecting with the 'whys' in your story.
Discover the power of identifying and connecting with the 'whys' in your story.
For anyone with an interest in hearing about the difference between a reason & an excuse, for anyone who roots for the underdog, or has ever been the underdog, and most importantly - anyone who has ever felt insecure or unworthy and wants to hear from someone else who has absolutely been there…but chose not to stay.
We all have our whys. Those things that drive us to do the things we do - the way that we do them. And…we all have a story, or a compilation of stories, that make us who we are. I have always been fascinated by the stories. I like to believe that there is value in every story. If we choose to find that value and take the time to understand it - we are usually better for it.
The ME in Meaningful started as a self-catharsis of sorts...never meant to be read by anyone but me. Over the course of 5 years, and a lot of encouragement...the journal was transformed into the book that invites us all to share in the journey of traversing the very best and worst that life has to offer. Experiencing struggle isn't what makes us unique...it's how we respond. Life circumstances will undoubtedly knock us down, it is how we rise that makes us unique.
Jen, a nurse by background, has dedicated the last 15 years of her 30+ year career to helping improve healthcare delivery systems for the country's most vulnerable and underserved communities.
Jen lives with her husband nin San Antonio, TX, with her 4 grown children all close by.
Jen invites readers to join the journey of navigating life with grit and grace, finding our own version of courage, embracing humility, and demonstrating resilience in the face of all the challenges life throws our way.
"In the spirit of being vulnerable, I will admit that I am not great at self promotion…it is definitely not on my strengths inventory list! So, when asked the questions of “who are you?”, and “why should people listen to what you have to say?”, my knee-jerk response would generally be to lean on sarcasm or humor to help buffer my uneasiness.
But, honestly, and I say this with absolute humility, I just want the things I have experienced to be helpful to someone else.
I am not someone with prestigious degrees or someone who is writing a book from a sandy beach somewhere because I have cracked the code of financial freedom. Rather, I am sitting at my computer, after a long and busy workday, sipping on an iced coffee that lost the last of its ice a while ago, with my hair in a pitifully messy bun-like situation, procrastinating the packing that I should be doing for my business trip tomorrow.
Who am I? I’m just Jen. But I think I am probably a lot like you. So, maybe - just maybe - this will be a story you can relate to and find some value in. And hopefully, you will be left wanting more. Most of all I hope you are left with the feeling that you’ve made a friend." ~ Jen Calohan
